01 — How It Started
These blokes have been building mad things since they were kids — it probably started when Jake and Cam were about 12, building their own buggies out of old motors.
Jacob is a broadacre farmer in the WA Wheatbelt with a small equipment-hire business on the side. Cam Nash runs Nash Mech, a dominant earthmoving and machine-maintenance business. Jason Harbor is the operations manager at Nash Mech — a gun heavy diesel mechanic who can fix anything with wheels, tracks or an engine.
Between them they've already got the skills, the gear, the land and the know-how.
DIRT MONEY started watching Whistlin Diesel and Heavy D Sparks and thinking — this is exactly what we do every day. Why aren't we filming it? We've got the equipment, the land and the know-how already.
After about six months of talking about it, they finally went all in.
